Looking for a job or not – you should always maintain a current CV, LinkedIn profile and register with relevant job sites. In an ideal world, we are all in the job we love, on the right salary for our skills and being pushed to excel by our employer.Even if you’re one of the lucky ones, it’s important to keep on track with the big three; motivation, salary, learning, so we need to make sure we keep an eye on the jobs in our marketplace.
Making sure you’re up to date with recent job posts advertising a similar role to your own means that you will be in the know on what benefits other employers are willing to offer for someone like you.
This doesn’t mean that you’re going to jump ship anytime soon, but armed with this information you will have a better stand point when trying to get a pay increase or restructuring your responsibilities in your end of year review.
If you don’t get the answers that you want, at least you will be safe in the knowledge that your skills are wanted elsewhere, in return for more of the benefits that you deserve.
Stay in the loop.
Make sure your profile is updated at least quarterly on LinkedIn with new skills, projects, presentations, and training; you might get headhunted by one of the many recruitment agencies sourcing candidates from this social networking giant.
Don’t forget to update your preferences in the Jobs section of your LinkedIn profile to capture your ideal position, industry, location and even company size.
If you know more people outside of your company who work within your industry then make sure to check in with them now and again, get out for a social drink and some banter around what they are all working on. You never know, they might be looking for an extra pair of hands for that next big business project.
Be prepared.
A CV refresher doesn’t need to be painful. At ABCV Solutions, we specialise in transforming tired and tedious technical CVs into powerful documents that instantly communicate your strengths, successes, and future potential. And your investment could pay off with big dividends.
Remain visible.
Even if you are already in employment, it’s still a good idea to be listed with a few relevant job boards. It will make you immediately much more visible to prospective employers. You can even hide your name and personal contact details if you want so that only your skills, career history, and qualifications are visible. This way you won’t need to worry about your current employer finding out that you’re keeping your options open.
Arm yourself with an updated, high-octane CV from ABCV Solutions and this could be the year that you land a better job. We’ll even take care of registering you onto the job boards!
